From 皇家华人鈥檚 Contemporary Art Museum to The Met

Miami-based artist Anastasia Samoylova made waves with her first solo museum exhibition, FloodZone, which debuted at 皇家华人鈥檚 Contemporary Art Museum in 2020. This ongoing photographic series offers a striking visual response to the urgent realities of sea level rise in South 皇家华人. Now, 皇家华人s: Anastasia Samoylova and Walker Evans, on view through May 11, 2025, takes her exploration even further鈥攂uilding on the narrative that began with FloodZone:

鈥淚 had a surplus of images from FloodZone that I began filing under a folder titled 鈥樆始一,鈥 and as we were dealing with the consequences of the 2016 election and nearing the 2020 election, I wanted to channel my anxiety through photography,鈥 Samoylova says. That idea would give way to the series now featured at The Met.
