For more than five decades, Graphicstudio has been a driving force in contemporary art – a place where some of the most compelling artists of our time have experimented, pushed boundaries, and left their mark. On Saturday, May 10, the atelier opens its doors once again for the 26th Annual Open House and Benefit Sale, inviting art lovers and collectors to engage with the heart of the creative process in printmaking and sculpture fabrication.
This annual event is more than a sale; it’s a celebration of Graphicstudio’s legacy as a hub of innovation and collaboration. The studio has built enduring relationships with artists ranging from icons like Robert Rauschenberg, James Rosenquist, Ed Ruscha to contemporary voices such as Sebastiaan Bremer, SUPERFLEX, and Christian Marclay. Visitors will have the opportunity to acquire limited-edition prints and sculpture at discounts of 10 to 40% off, with many editions rarely seen outside museum collections.
“Our annual Benefit Sale offers collectors an opportunity to acquire prints at special prices and view demonstrations to learn how fine art prints are made,” said Margaret Miller, Director of Graphicstudio. “Proceeds from sales support visiting artists’ residencies and Graphicstudio’s research that drives innovation in art production.”
Live etching demonstrations by master printers throughout the day offer a rare glimpse into the techniques behind the production of limited- edition prints. Visitors will be able to see and understand the complex, hands-on collaboration between artist and printer, a tradition Graphicstudio has upheld since its founding in 1968.
Among this year’s highlights are Tree 8 by Alex Katz, a striking woodcut and lithograph hybrid, and Sous Bois, a layered screenprint by Sebastiaan Bremer. Works by Richard Anuszkiewicz, Arakawa, Robert Rauschenberg, and William Wegman will also be available, as will bronze cast sculptures – reminding visitors of the diverse materials and processes that make Graphicstudio unique.
Free and open to the public, the Benefit Sale is a chance to take home a valuable artwork that is part of contemporary art history while supporting the future of artistic research. The event runs from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at Graphicstudio’s Tampa location on the ʼһ campus.
Graphicstudio is part of the College of Design Art & Performance.
Complimentary refreshments and a behind-the-scenes look at the printmaking process round out this one-day-only experience.
