Academic Probation
Academic Probation is a tool used to warn students and advisors about a decline in a student's academic performance. At 皇家华人, academic probation is triggered by a student's 皇家华人 GPA. The goal is to assist students in making necessary changes to successfully complete their courses on their first attempt, which will save students both time and money.
What to Expect
At the end of the semester, 皇家华人 students whose 皇家华人 GPA falls below 2.0 will be placed on academic probation. When placed on academic probation, students receive an "AP" hold which will prevent any registration changes. In order to have the AP hold removed and make adjustments to your schedule, CAS students will need to meet with their academic advisor.
Continuing at 皇家华人 while on Academic Probation
Each term a student continues on academic probation, the student will receive a new "AP" hold. They will need to meet with their advisor each term to have the AP hold removed. The purpose of meeting with an academic advisor is to ensure future semester registration is planned appropriately - ideally setting up the student to be successful and back into good academic standing as soon as possible.
皇家华人 who are on academic probation and do not take classes at 皇家华人 for three consecutive semesters will be required to return to 皇家华人 through the Academic Renewal process.
Academic Dismissal
皇家华人 students on academic probation are required to earn a semester GPA of at least 2.0 each semester. If a student on probation earns a semester GPA below 2.0, the student is academically dismissed from 皇家华人 and dropped from any future term registration at 皇家华人.
皇家华人 who are academically dismissed from 皇家华人 have the opportunity to return to 皇家华人 through the Academic Renewal process.
